AUDITION NOTICE: Hurricane Mona


AUDITION NOTICE

Touchstone Theatre and Ruby Slippers Theatre are seeking a Vancouver based actor for the role of Jay in a world premiere co-production of Hurricane Mona by Pippa Mackie. Directed by Roy Surette.

 

Hurricane Mona is a fast-paced, absurd, and catastrophic dark comedy about an upper-middle-class family grappling with their lives at the centre of the climate emergency. 

 

Contract is October 24th to December 3rd,2023. Rehearsal will be Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm. Performances will be at The Cultch Historic Theatre, November 18 -December 3, 2023.

CAEA members and non-members are welcome to apply. We strongly encourage applicants from artists of all ethnicities and backgrounds.

 

Character description for Jay:

Jay - He and/or They. 19-21 years old - male or non-binary identifying

Gen Z introvert with a sensitive and biting edge, managing depression, lives at home with helicopter boomer parents Rick and Susan and sister Mona (who has just been given a house arrest sentence). Jay has a strong sense of self and a quiet but sharp sense of humour. 

Trigger warning: the character of Jay is referenced as suicidal.
